The AA2A scheme funded by Arts Council England, provides artists with the opportunity to undertake a period of reseach using workshop and supporting facilities within art departments of Higher and Further Education Institutions.

Joanna undertook a period of research within the glass department at Leeds College of Art and Design.  The fused glass tiles were the result of a fascinating exploration of materials and techniques.  Colour, mark, surface texture and a unique quality of depth was acheived through the layering process.  The tiles, backed with silver leaf, were combined with glass mosaic tesserae demonstrating how the materials could be incorporated into both public and domestic situations.
